I study what happens to cancer genomes after they double.
Master's student at Tokyo University of Science, doing research at a cancer
research institute in Tokyo.
I came to Japan from Italy after high school without speaking the
language, and now do all of my research in it. Before that I translated
books. I work in Japanese, English, Italian and Persian.
The lab I joined works almost entirely at the bench. There was nobody
handling the computational side when I got involved, so that became my
work: the pipelines, the statistics and the tooling for a pan-cancer
dataset. My supervisor sets the question; I design and run the
analyses.
Ploidy after whole-genome doubling

After a cancer cell doubles its entire genome it does not stay at that
ploidy. It drifts back down, and where it settles depends on the cancer
type. I built the analysis to ask what that tracks with, across 23 cancer
types and around 10,000 TCGA samples: copy-number calling, differential
expression modelled as a continuous function of ploidy rather than a
two-group comparison, survival analysis, and deconvolution of bulk
expression, with a simulated dataset used to check the pipeline recovers
what it should.

regex, debounced so it stays responsive on large vaults. Published to the

A self-hosted training log that parses exported notes into structured
data and reports progress per muscle group. Built mostly to find out
whether the training was as consistent as it felt.
Seven books
Translation · 2019–2023
Seven books from Japanese into English as a freelancer, and one from
English into Italian before that. It is where I learned that you cannot
move a sentence into another language until you know exactly what it
says.
